The Cavemen is a Nigerian highlife band made up of brothers Kingsley Okorie (bass, vocals) and Benjamin James (drums). They were formed in 2018, though their first album Roots dropped in 2020.
They’re known for reviving and modernizing highlife music, mixing traditional Igbo and West African highlife elements with soul, jazz, and live instrumentation. Their second album Love and Highlife came out in 2021, and it features collaborations with artists like Cobhams Asuquo, Made Kuti, PC Lapez, and others.
The Cavemen are praised for emotional, nostalgic soundscapes, lyrics about love and culture, and energetic live shows. They’re seen as leading voices in bringing back highlife’s vibrancy to modern Nigerian music.
