Black Sherif (Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kwaku Frimpong) is a Ghanaian singer, rapper and songwriter born on January 9, 2002, in Konongo-Zongo, in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
He first gained recognition in 2021 with his singles “First Sermon” and “Second Sermon”, and his breakthrough came in March 2022 with “Kwaku the Traveller”, which topped charts in Ghana and Nigeria.
Known for blending highlife, drill, hip-hop and Afrobeat, Black Sherif’s music often tackles themes of struggle, ambition, identity and resilience. He released his debut album The Villain I Never Was in October 2022 and his follow-up Iron Boy in April 2025.
